REVIEWS

“Me, my husband and our three boys aged 8 (twins) and 6, so loved Heart of Hope. We found the storyline so accessible and easily relatable for our kids. The artistic, yet day to day elements, such as messages on a paper plane and the bedtime story sequences were wonderfully depicted. And then the beauty and magic of the colour warrior dancers really engaged all of us. Through Iris’ story, we have easily bridged into the important conversation of organ donation in a very natural way – such a crucial topic that is ordinarily tricky to navigate.  What a heart-warming, glorious film I would highly recommend for all ages!” - Annie Hanekomb: Director at Proteus Leadership and parent of 3 children (all boys!)

“Heart of Hope is an apt title for a film that is filled with hopeful spirit and plenty of heart. This film brings a delicate touch to what many perceive as a topic too difficult for children to face. With relatable characters and good measures of whimsy, history, drama and love, Heart of Hope is moving and enjoyable film for all ages. Organ donation and transplantation are realities many families face each year. With every gift of life comes tragedy and loss, but also hope, gratitude and wonder. Heart of Hope is a tribute to organ donors and their families as much as it is a transplant journey. When it comes to shifting culture to one where donation is the norm and not the exception, knowledge is key. Families should watch this film together, let it spark a conversation. One day it could make all the difference.” - Jenny Ryan: Manager: Acting Assoc. Director - Program Operations. Canadian Blood Services. Organ & Tissue Donation & Transplantation

“I watched ‘Heart of Hope’ with my father-in-law and my two older sons (aged 12 &14). Personally, I am very pleased that now, there’s a feature film that tells the compelling story centred around a child with a condition, who's in desperate need of an organ and also how she responds to her situation. Importantly, the film shines a light on the pressures and the anguish families experience when caring with a poorly child and also the impact and role of the community. There was some great observational stuff in there, which made me smile. I thought it was beautifully shot and clever to cut away to the fairy-tale dance scenes. This film can and will only help encourage conversation around organ donation.” - Yaser Martini: Team Margot Foundation, parent of 4 children
